Deep Strategy In Ten-Minute Chunks
Strategy has a reputation for eating hours, but plenty of mobile ones are built for the tram ride. The trick is games that let you make one good decision and put the phone away without penalty.
Iron Tide Command is surprisingly good at this despite its depth. A single fleet decision can be its own small session, and the game holds your state perfectly when you close it. You can plan a route now and fight the battle at lunch.
The features I look for are pause-anywhere design, clean save states, and turns that don't demand you remember a dozen threads at once. Real-time strategy usually fails this test; turn-based usually passes.
If you've written off strategy on mobile because you think it needs marathon sessions, try the turn-based end of the pool. It fits into a real day better than you'd expect.
